Image from the first roll of color film I have shot in the Rolleiflex. This is an old building located in Winston-Salem, NC. Loved the painted name on this building.
While picking strawberries with my Rolleiflex (doesn’t everyone bring a Rollei to pick strawberries?), I saw a group of people a few rows over that were laughing and having a grand time. They were also dressed up like Strawberry Shortcake and Friends. I’m not kidding. Grown adults in there 30’s playing dress up during the middle of May. There was Strawberry, Blueberry Muffin, Lemon Meringue, Raspberry Tart and of course, Purple Pieman. I took a couple of shots of them picking berries when they weren’t looking and then I got up the nerve to asked if I could take a group shot. I now wish I had color film in the camera. They would have looked a lot more interesting. Oh well. It’s still a good story to tell.
This guy was trying to “save” the convention participates. He wasn’t doing that good of a job. At the time I shot this image there were a number of costumed fans arguing with him. It was quite interesting to watch.
